As gary walks around the town at night, he looks up at the stars in wonder and thinks to himself " how did i end up being a mercenary in this town..." as he thinks to himself about his adventures a single image resurfaces yet again... a nightmarish image of a room covered in blood with 3 corpses on the floor. as the blood slowly pools at his feet he looks at the bodies and sees his mother and father as well as his best friend... all with there throats slit with what appears to be daggers. as he sees this image for the 200th time he clenches his fist and shakes off the memory as he looks at the night sky again... he yells to its endless abyss " why them! they did nothing wrong!!!! nothing wrong at all..." after he yells this he slowly walks back to his post near the gate where he sleeps most of the time so he can hear enemies approaching and finally be able to protect his family.... one time before he leaves this earth... or makes a dumb mistake... like he once did before...

Gary is at his post for a few minutes before something catches his attention. it wasn't movement, or even a noise, just... a feeling. as he looks into the darkness to his left just past the gate he finally spots it. Walker, feeling that he has been spotted takes a few steps forward into the moonlight, with his hands in the open as if to show he has nothing in them. "Making your rounds?" he asks, as if it wasn't obvious enough. "you might want to keep your voice down when at this time of night. this far into the frontier, you never know what could be hiding but a stones throw away." no longer being able to contain it, a cheesy grin plasters itself all over Walkers face.

"Same as you, making my rounds." Walker sighs before comtinuing. "There is something that makes adventeurors different, something to cause us to risk it all. Unfortunately for some of us, this is something that no one should experience."
Walker approaches gary with a serious, yet knowing look on his face. He puts his hand on garys sholder.
"For some of us, this is a burden we must carry. A weight that will always weigh heavily on our soul. This is what motivates some of us, we do everything in our power to make sure this kind of thing never happens to anyone else, ever again."
Walker removes his hand and paces a little. "We charge so they may withdraw. We fight so they may rest. We bleed so they may be healed, and we die so they may live. Only one who has suffered can truly understand that"
Walker lets that hang in the air for a moment before continuing.
"but not if we forget."
