*The dwarf pulls out some parchment, an ink bootle, and a quill. He begins scribing a note for the mayor.*
The note read as follow:
Mayor Tri Lol, We understand you are a busy man and this might not be a good time for you. So we will take our leave. And when you do have time to discuss diplomacy between our towns, feel free to come find us in New Haven.
Respectfully,
The Beard
*The Beard leaves the letter, stamped with the seal of New Haven, for the mayor to read.*

*After leaving the note, the dwarf pulls out a fresh batch of cookies and beef jerky, leaving it with the letter.*

Technically, as a vassal town within a monarchy, Shalowford is not a democracy. The Mayor is appointed by the Duke. But the Duke, being a good man, honors our votes. I am sorry if you felt marginalized, that was never my intent. My comment about you not being able to vote was tongue-in-cheek commentary on a monarchy that allows votes. I am honestly mortified that I ever gave you the impression that such comments were serious.
You are of course free to vote, and your voice counts equally to any other here. The Mayors one vote carries no more weight than yours. Only non-citizens are discounted. And there are not set terms established, you may demand a new vote for any elected office at any time. I would not have been so terse earlier if I had realized you did not know this. I thought you were leaving to spite our vote. But to leave because you feel you have no voice in governance is perfectly valid.
If I may derail your diplomatic overtures once more; if you feel so strongly about our leadership then may I implore you to call for a new vote? It is not too late to change your minds. Make Shallowford the haven you seek.

::looks back at all the people talking and just shakes his head::
Kalindyl I see how your point and agree that they should not leave. But I have no intent on forcing them to stay. I was even with all the plans that have been starting to fall in to place with all the new adventurers. But we have to remember they that they are new to this life it is not easy yes we know this but as long as they wish to get the right papers and dont brake any laws we cant stop them.. ::looking at the small group now:: if you wish to stay I will m do what I can to help you, if you leave and go off help may not be as close as you may need.
I remember growing up with my tribe and there was a group that tryed to brake off and go out on there own because they thought they could do better or something like that and at first it was ok but after not to long there lack of support started ti ware them down and they started to fight with each other, then came a monster in to there camp and there where not able to defend there one ran off for help at the start but by the time they got to the tribe and back the damage was done.. they where lucky that there spirits where strong so no one took there last death but all they worked for was destroyed. there camp was in ruins. the tribe did take them back in the end but they learned it was not there time to leave and they had much to learn before going out on there own.
::takes a deep breath and closes his eyes for a second then looks back::
some lessons need to be learned the hard way even when the easy way is right in front of you.. there are are many thing you will miss by leaving and I wish you to stay but I will not force you to.. if you do seek help remember the town will come first but will help those who seek help with good intent

*The Beard smiles and let's out a slight sigh of relief. The dwarf, returns to his generally goofy grin.*
"Thank you, Mayor. This is what we feel we must do. I apprecuate your concern, and never feel that New Haven will be too far away to aid Shallowford if they ever need us to. Once everything is finished and in order and our town begins to prosper, we hope to set up trade relations between the towns. Mutually benfecial for all of us."
*the dwarf nods to the mayor, and to Kalindyl*
Good day gentleman, may we all prosper and grow and bring peace to these frontier lands.
