Good day to the adventures and settlers of Shallow Ford.
I am Kale Rend, adventurer and citizen of Aklecium, farmer and settler of Shallow Ford.
I am writing to announce my candidacy for the office of mayor to be held upon the next market day.
I say that the election of one "Lord" Whitton was held under duress of danger and uncertainty of the adventuring community of Shallowford. I say that "Lord" Whitton has proven no noble lineage but introduced himself to the adventuring community as such, thereby invoking intimidation and fear upon the adventuring populace, among a litany of other frightening circumstances plaguing the settlement of Shallowford. I submit that the incumbent of the office of mayor of Shallowford may be guilty of the crime of impersonation of noble title.
Whitton promised us the safety of a sturdy wall, yet paid coin to build us a ramshackle construct of weak mud and fragile pebbles. He then proceeds to charge us a whole gold on all business transactions as well as a gold each time we enter his "wall".
I call for a vote of no confidence in this incredulous and spuriously elected mayor.
I intend to run for the office myself, and submit to the adventures and citizens of Shallowford the following charter:
- A flat tax of one silver per market day rightfully due to the Crown of Aklecium. One, and only one silver, unless the rightful Crown decrees otherwise.
- In absence of a member of the royal army, or a noble presence, trials for any and all crimes held by the settlement, in accordance with the laws of Aklecium, to be fairly carried out by the adventures assembled. Not that any nobles have come to Shallowford as of late, but nobles in Shallowford shall be given to the South Fort to arrange for a just trial among their peers, in accordance with the royal laws of Aklecium.
- A stipulation which calls for the re-election of the office of mayor of the settlement of Shallowford every six months, to ensure that the citizens here have the opportunity to choose their local leadership. Furthermore I submit no one individual may hold the office of mayor for longer than two terms.
- A stipulation which allows for the adventures and settlers to submit new laws for popular vote. These must be in addition to those just laws set forth by the Crown of Aklecium, and may never breach or subvert them.
- Finally, I would encourage the adventures of Shallowford make preparations for the following tasks: the safety and sustainability of the settlement Shallow Ford; the eventual reclamation of the city of Lochling from the evil grip of the goblin "King" Juju; peaceful, diplomatic, and cooperative relations with the Sand Panther Barbarians and tasks for the aid of the garrison of South Fort.
Adventures of Shallowford, I am Kale Rend. I have fought and bled alongside of all of you in defence of our town. I call for a vote of no confidence in "Lord" Whitton, Shallowford's most dishonest and self serving individual. I hope you understand he will doom the town which already barely remains breathing.
I ask that you vote the removal of Whitton, and support me instead. Or failing this, vote him out of this office and enter the candidacy yourself.
Whitton cannot have our support. He has misled and betrayed all confidence we placed in him.
