*The Beard has been looking for a nice place to sit and rest. Finally finding a nice spot under a tree. The dwarf pulls out a piece of parchment and a stick of charcoal to write with.*
"Ah, this is a beautiful day. The Beard will do many good things here. What to write today? A song? A poem? A limerick? Put another great tale of The Beard in writing? Perhaps just draw the scenery as it is? Hmm...."
*The dwarf ponders as he start to write. A smile coming to his face as the words flow from his hand to the parchment.*

*From the location the beard has chosen to sit this day the town gate can be seen in the distance. Two men can be seen walking around and looking at the town gate and area around the inside of the gate. One is a rather simple looking man small of stature dressed in ragged clothing, The other however is dressed in fine Green and with white accents. Just outside the gate a wagon full of stone can be seen*

* The Beard notices the men and the cart. Having the attention span of a hamster, the dwarf gets up and approaches the gate, curious about the stone as his dwarven instincts kick in. And the Beard is also curious of the men scouting about the gate."
"Greetings, gentlemen. Good 'morrow. How goes your day?"
*The dwarf pauses thinking to himself briefly looking confused, he the shrugs it off and smiles looking back at the gentlemen.*
"People call me The Beard. What do people call you?"

*The man in green and white steps up upon the dwarfs approach, Listens then...*
"I am the one and only Assazzi, of the Order of the Thorn,"
*he gives a small nod in his introduction then motions to the other man*
"And he is a resident of this walled community that I have hired to build a stone entryway here inside the gate as purchased by another member of this town."

*The dwarf nods in greeting.*
"I see, well, stone makes a sturdy gate, at long as it is well made of course."
*The dwarf glances at the man who is said to be building the wall.*
"Personally, I would have hired a dwarf, excellent masons, the dwarves. Some might even say they came from stone. But dont get me wrong, i have met some dwarves who only have stones for brains. For example, my cousin Tonkin... He is not the sharpest pick axe in the mine...."

*Assazzi looks around a moment*
"Is this your way of saying you are looking for work? Have you the skills of a mason to go with the natural knowledge of the rock that your kin lends to you? If not I am sure this man could always use assistance with the movement of the heavier stones."
*the other man seems to be ignoring the pair as they chat and goes about first leveling out the ground where the foundation for the walls will be placed*

"Aye, I was a mason to pay me way through Bardic College. Not to mention, The Beard knows many things and is quite skillful. Being new here, I am just trying to be helpful and lend a hand where needed. Being way out here seems like a good place to help."
*The dwarf glances at the man, and then back to Assazzi.*
"Did he inquire about his masonry experiences before you hired him?"

"Very well Beard boy, I will hire you at your word that you know something about what you are doing here the pay will be two silver for the day, If you should show a greater aptitude then I anticipate in doing the work then I will increase your pay accordingly"
*Glances back to the other man*
"Hope this dwarf is of some help and he doesn't just low you down in your work"
*the other man looks up at the dwarf for the first time and states..*
"We shall see lets see if you can level the ground on that side for a 10 foot stone wall perpendicular to the main wooden wall. There are a couple of spare tools in the wagon help yourself"

*The dwarf hustled over to start getting some tools.*
"Let's make Shallowford great again. And we will build that wall... or gate. Either way, keep us safe."

*the stranger eyes the dwarf skeptically but a slight smirk can be seen crossing his face*
"whatever you say just try to make it straight and stay out of Mr. Assazzi's way when he starts his magic casting"

Walker, doing what walker does just on the other side of the wall hears the dwarf make his comment about the wall. He climbs his ladder and sticks his head over the wall and adds his two cents. "Its to keep the undead out. Are you going to make them pay for it too?"

*The dwarf hearing the comment from Walker, he ponders briefly*
"The Beard likes the way you think, Sheriff. Aye, let's make them pay for it... they drop silver when we kill them, right?"

*Assazzi looks up from sorting out his components and scrolls*
"well you would need like 700 or so to march on your town to recoup the cost of this defense, but at that point it really would pay for itself"

"So, the undead will pay for it. Just over a length of time. The Beard likes this plan. And The Beard dislikes undead... this sounds like a great idea! We should build a wall!"
*The dwarf hurriedly gets back to working leveling the ground, ensuring it's straightened as well.*
